A table describyng the. vii. kyngdomes of the Saxons, raygnyng here in Englande.

IN the tyme of Vortiger aboue mentioned, began the raygne of the Saxōs in this land, the which coming out of. 3. sortes of the Germain people (to wit) the Saxons, the Intes & Angles, replenished this land, of thē called now Anglia. Of whō first Hēgistus raigned in Kēt: which coūtry of Kent he had obteined by Rowē his daughter of king Vortiger, which was about the yeare of our Lord as some do count, 476. or as I finde it in the computation of our English tables, 456. in some. 463. After Hengist, came in Octha, wyth Eosa, or Ysse his kinsman: who afterward succeded the sayd Hengist in Kent. Not long after came in an other company of þe Saxons, with Elle their capitain, which planted themselues in Southsexe. And after them againe an other garrison of the Saxons with Cerdice their captayne, which did occupy the West part of the land, called by them Westsaxon. And so likewise the other multitude of the Saxons after them, which as yet beyng vnchristened and infidels, deuided the whole land among themselues into. vij. kyngdomes, as in this table followeth.
