MarginaliaOriginal sinne originall iustice.9. And therfore as all men commyng of Adam be cōdemned originally, before they grow vp to commit any sinne against þe law, so al men be saued originally being regenerated by faith in Christ, before they begyn to do any good worke of charitie or any other good dede.

10. Item, the doctrine of S. Paul perpendyng þe hygh glory of a Christē mans state in Christ Iesus by fayth: First setteth him in a perfect peace with almighty God Rom. 5. MarginaliaRom. 5.Secondly exempteth him from all condemnation. Rom. 8. Thirdly it matcheth him with Aungels, it equalleth him with Saintes and felowcitizēs of heauen, it numbereth him with the houshold of God, and coinheriteth him with Iesus Christ him selfe. Ephes. 2. MarginaliaEphes. 2.Fourthly, it adopteth him frō the state of a seruaunt, to the state of the sonne of God, crying: Abba father. Gal. 4. MarginaliaItaq; iam non es seruus sed filius. Gal. 4. Cor. 3. Marginalia1. Cor. 3.MarginaliaThe glorious state of Christian libertie, & spirituall fredome in Christ Iesu.Seuenthly, it aduaunseth and setteth him in a spirituall libertie or freedome, aboue all terrours of spirite, rising either of Gods law or mans law, aboue all dreadfull feares of sinne, damnation, malediction, reiection, death, hell, or Purgatory: aboue all seruile bondage of ceremonies, mēs preceptes, traditions, superstitious vses, yokes, customes, or what els soeuer oppresseth and intangleth the spirituall freedome of a conscience which Chirst hath set at libertie: And requireth moreouer that we walke and stand stout in that libertie with the free sonne of Sara, wherto we are bought, and not suffer our selues any more to be clogged with any such yoke of seruile bondage: that is to meane, although we should be cōtent to subiect our bodyes to all seruice & to all mē, yet that we yeld not our spiritual conscieces and soules as slaues and seruauntes to be subiect to the feare or bondage of any terrene thyng in this world, for as much as we are in that part made Lordes and Princes ouer all thyngs what soeuer can harme, or bynd, or terrifie vs. Gal. 4. MarginaliaDayes and times indifferent.11. Item, the right vayne of S. Paules doctrine putteth no difference nor obseruation in dayes and tymes. Gal. 4. Col. 2.

MarginaliaMeates indifferent with thās giuing.12. Item, it leaueth all meates to be indifferent, with thankes giuyng, to serue the necessitie of the body, and not the body to serue them. Col. 2. 1. Timot. 4.

MarginaliaMariage lawful for all men.13. Item, it permitteth Mariage without restraynt or exception, lawfull and expediēt for all men, hauyng nede therof. 1. Cor. 7.

MarginaliaOne sacrifice for sinne, and no more.14. Item, it admitteth no sacrifice for sinne but the sacrifice of Christ alone, and that done once for all with bloud. For without bloud there is no remission of sinne: which onely is applyed to vs by fayth, and by nothyng els. Heb. 9.MarginaliaHebr. 9.

MarginaliaThe vse of the holy communion in auncient tyme of the primitiue Church.15. Item, as touchyng the holy Communion, by the letters of S. Paul to the Corinthians, cap. 11. we vnderstād, that the vse then amongest them was, to haue the participation of the bread, called the Lordes body, and of the cuppe, called the Lordes bloud, administred not at an altar, but at a playne borde or table, the congregation there meetyng together after the tyme of their supper, where not the minister alone did receaue and the other loked on, but the whole congregation together did communicate with reuerence and thankes giuyng, not liftyng ouer the Priestes head, nor worshippyng, nor kneeling, nor knockyng their brestes, but either sittyng at the supper, or standyng after the supper. Accordyng to which forme the Muscouites yet to this day folowyng þe old rite of their coūtrey (althoughbeyng drowned otherwise in much supersititon) vse to receaue it after they be risen from their dyner stādyng. Experience wherof was sene here at London the first day of Octob. an. 1569.

MarginaliaThe authority authoritie & office of the Ciuill Magistrates18. Item, the rule of S. Paules doctrine subiecteth euery creature vnder the obedience of Kynges and Princes, and ordinary Magistrates ordeined of God to haue the sword and authoritie of publicke regiment to order and dispose in all thynges not cōtrary to God, what soeuer perteyneth to the mainteynaunce of the good, or to the correction of the euill: from whose iurisdiction there is no exemption of vocations or persons, whether they be ecclesiasticall or politicall. And therfore to this office apperteineth to preserue peace, to set thynges in lawfull order, to conserue Christian discipline in the Church of Christ, to remoue offences, to bridle the disobedient, to prouide and procure wholesome and faithfull teachers ouer the people, to mainteine learnyng and set vp scholes, to haue ouersight not onely of the people, but also all ecclesiaticall ministers to see euery one to do his duetie, and to remoue or punishe such as be negligent: also to call Councels and Synodes, and to prouide the Church goodes to be faythfully dispensed by the handes of true dealers, to the sustentation of the Church, of true teachers, and to the publicke necessitie of the poore &c.

MarginaliaThe office and authoritie of Bishops how far it doth extended.19. Furthermore, by S. Paules doctrine, the ministers & superintendentes of Christes Church haue their authoritie and armour lykewise to them limited, which armour is onely spirituall, and not carnall, whereby they fight not agaynst flesh and bloud, but agaynst the power of darkenes, errour, and sinne, agaynst the spirituall seduction and craftines in heauenly thynges, agaynst the workes & procedinges of Sathan the prince of this world, in comfortyng weake consciēces agaynst terrours of the deuill and desperation, and finally against euery cogitation lifted vp agaynst Christ, to subdue euery celsitude to the subiection & power of Christ Iesu the sonne of God.
