Item, the sayd Pope should not translate the Court of Rome, and the officers of the same from the Citie of Constance. And that all his censures, doynges and workynges after the tyme of his departure, what soeuer he should enterprise to do to the preiudice of this Councell, should be of no effect.

Item, commissioners were appointed out of the foure nations for the hearing of Iohn Hus, which shalbe here after mentioned in his story folowyng.

Item, the memorie of Iohn Wickleffe was condemned, and the sentence geuen in the Councell holden at Rome vpon the condemnation and burnyng of Wickleffes bookes, was there confirmed.

MarginaliaCitation graunted against Ierome of Prage.Item, in the same Session, Citation was sent out agaynst Ierome of Prage. The tenor whereof foloweth after in the story of the sayd Ierome.

Item, in this Session, was decreed agaynst libelles of infamy.

In the viij. Session, the sentence and condemnation of Iohn Wickleffe, and his 45. Articles was recited, and sentence geuen agaynst his memory & bones to be burned. The tenor wherof is rehearsed in the history of Iohn Wickleffe before passed. fol. 551.

The people of Christ excommunicated from the communion of the holy cup.
In the 13. Session was decreed, quod nullus presbiter sub pena excommunicationis comunicet populo sub vtraq; specie panis et vini. That is, that no Priest vnder payne of excommunication shall communicate vnto the people vnder both kyndes of bread and wyne.

Marginalia14.In the 14. Session, came in the resignatiō of Pope Gregory the xii. which was one of the iij. before mentioned, striuyng for the Papacie, with certaine other Articles concernyng the election of the Byshop of Rome, and the ratification of their resignyng, whiche gaue ouer the Papacie.

Session, in the which silence was commaunded on all partes vnder payne of excommunicatiō, and the great curse that no person or persons high or low of what estate or degree so euer he were, Emperour, Kyng, Cardinall, or other should distourbe the sayd Session with any maner of noyse, either by hand, foote, or voyce. Marginalia16.In the 16. Session, Ambassadours were assigned by the Councell to go into Arragon to Benedictus the xiij. to entreate with him for the resignation of his Papacie, as the other two had done before.

Item, power was geuen to iudges, to cyte vnder payne of depriuation, all such as priuely departed away from the Councell, in the whiche Session also the sentence agaynst Iohn Hus was confirmed and ratified.Marginalia17.
The Emperours iourney into Arragon.

In the 17. Session, the Emperour tooke vpon him a iourney to the kyng of Arragon, to entreate with pope Benedictus. An excommunication denounced agaynst all such as should go about to empeche the Emperours iourney about that matter. &c.

Item, prayers and processions were determined to be made by the Councell, euery Sonday for the same cause, with an hundred dayes of pardon geuen to them that would be present therat, and that all Prelates should be present at euery of these sayd Masses and processions in their Pontificalibus. MarginaliaPardons were here dogge cheapGrauntyng besides to euery Priest that sayd one Masse, for the same a C. dayes of pardon. And to all other that once a day should say one Pater noster, and one Aue, for the safety of the Emperor xl. dayes of pardon.

Marginalia18.In the 18. Session, certaine iudges were assigned for the hearyng of matters, which the Councell had no leasure to heare.

It was there also decreed that such letters and Buls as were written in the name of that Councell, should be receiued with no less credite and authoritie, then the Buls procedyng from the Sea Apostolicall, and that the falsify-ers of the same should incurre no lesse penaltie then the falsifyers of the other. Legates also and Ambassadours were sent into Italy.

Marginalia19.In the 19. Sessiō which was the same yeare in the moneth of September, Ierome of Prage who was cited as is before sayd, was accused of heresie and cast in prison by þe sayd Councel, and constrained to abiure. The which his abiuration hereafter foloweth to be sene in hys history.

Item, it was decreed: Quod non obstantibus saluis cōductibus Imperatoris Regum. &c. possit per iudicem competentem de hæretica prauitate inquiri. &c. MarginaliaConcilium Foedifragum.That is, notwithstanding the safe conducte geuen by the Emperour and kynges. &c. Inquirie may be made agaynst a man for heresie by a sufficient iudge and processe, to be made accordyng to the law.

The causes of heresies were committed to certaine iudges and deputies.

During the time of this Session the Ambassadours returned out of Arragon from the Pope Benedict and were heard wyth a great audience, whereas certaine Articles and conditions betwene the Pope & the Councel were brought forth and agreed vpon to the number of xij.

In the yeare of our Lord. 1416. was þe 21. Session beginnyng after their maner with a Masse of the holy ghost with processions and such other rites, in the tyme of which Masse, Iames Byshop of Londy made a sermon, taking for hys Theame these wordes. Exprobrauit Deus incredulitatem eorum & duritiam: That is, the Lord rebuked their misbelief and hardnes. &c. Thys sermon beyng ended, Ierome of Prage which had abiured, as is sayd the yeare before, beyng present therat, stoode vp vpon a certayne bench or forme. MarginaliaIerome of Prage replyed agaynst the sermon of the Byshop of Lōdy.Replying agaynst the foresayd Iames & hys sermon, alledgyng and preachyng diuers and sundry thinges, wherupon the Patriarch of Constātinople, one of the commissioners proceeded agaynst hym, pronouncing the sentēce definitiue, which he had in wrytyng agaynst the sayd Ierome, which sentence beyng red and approued by the councell (the tenor wherof insueth in his history) the sayde Ierome was deliuered vnto the secular power, and burned.

Marginalia22. 23.The. 22. and. 23. Sessions containe no worthy matter, but onely the placing of the Ambassadours of Alphonsus K. of Arragon, & graunting them voyces in the Councell.Marginalia24.

In the. 24. Session, citatiō was geuen out against Benedict, keeping with Alphonsus, king of Aragon.

Marginalia25.The. 25. Session contayneth nothyng but a certaine Comendam geuen to the Churche of Olemucensis.

Marginalia26.The. 26. Session, there was nothing els handled, but the vniting and incorporating of the Ambassadours of the kyng of Nauarre into the Councell, and also concerning the derogation of the priority of voyces.

After thys followed the. 27. and 28. sessions, which were in the yeare. 1417. Wherein was intreated the relation and declaration, concerning the cause betwixt Duke Frderick, and the bishop of Trident, and processe geuen out agaynst the sayd Duke, accusing him of sacriledge, and also excommunicating hym, for not obeying the admonition of the coūcell concerning the vsurpation and deteyning of the citie of Trident and other possessions from Byshop George, as is afore specified.

Marginalia29. 30.In the. 29. and. 30. Sessions, Proctors and Notaryes were geuen out in the cause agaynst Pope Benedict, and order decreed vpon hys obstinacy, wherin also the withdrawing of the kyng of Arragon from the same Pope, was recited and approued by the Councell.

Marginalia31.In the 31. Session, certaine instrumentes, and speciall letters monitory were directed from the Councell to a certayne Earle of Italy named Comes virtutum. for laying violent handes vpon Albert, Byshop of Asce, and for bringyng hym to prison, requiryng the sayd Earle vnder paine of interdiction, and excommunication to set the sayd Byshop at libertie. Also another decree was set forth for the restoring againe the liberties of the Church of Baron.
