Saith that he was born at the said city of York, and is by his trade a shoemaker, and came to this city upon Saturday last past was fortnight without any company with him that he knew, and was in coming from London to this city about 5 days, and saith that he hath sithence his coming to this city for the most part… lain at the house of Robert Smith goldsmith, and being examined where he was upon Friday night last, saith that he with Robert Dodd and Hugh Case was at Robert Leech his house drinking till it was 11 of the clock at night last, and then this examinant and the said Dodd and Case when thence and about the milk stoops parted… And being examined what he did and how he behaved himself upon Saturday last past and that night saith that he worked all day with Peter Buxie until it was about 4 of the clock in the afternoon at which time the said Peter Buxie paid this examinant his week’s wages, and then this examinant and the said Robert Dodd went to the house of Piers Plummer and supped there, and after they had supped this examinant came thence and left Dodd behind him there, and went to the house of Randall Ince shoemaker about 9 of the clock at night where this examinant found three journeymen shoemakers drinking whereof two of them work with Randall Hall and the other works with James Sale, with whom this examinant did drink and kept them company there till it was about 12 of the clock at night, and which time they parted… and this examinant went and walked on the walls and slept there till sun was up, and then went to his host’s house to shift himself.
