Sworn and examined confesseth and saith that upon Wednesday last about seven of the clock in the evening this examinate came to the house of William Halliwell where he continued drinking until ten of the clock in the night and that in the meantime he was drunk and that a stranger being a Welshman being in the said house quarrelled with this examinate and saith that thereupon the said William Halliwell being a constable and George Halliwell his brother laid violent hands upon this examinate and did break his head and drew him forth by the heels out of doors and laid him in the channel.
Sworn and examined deposeth and saith that upon the said Wednesday evening last about seven of the clock the said William Taylor came into the said William Halliwell’s house and continued there until about 9 of the clock but saith he was drunk before his coming thither and saith that at his coming both Halliwell and his wife were in the house and that she went into the town about some business and that afterwards Halliwell and his brother carried him out of the house and laid him in the channel.
Sworn and examined deposeth and saith that she saw the said William Halliwell and his brother George carry and draw her said husband out of the said William Halliwell’s house and lay him in the channel and that after his being out of the house they did knock his head to the ground but whether he received his hurt by that knock or had the same in the house she knoweth not.
