Examined saith that upon Friday night past she lay at a barn in Merford and that she came into this City upon Saturday last about 2 of the clock in the afternoon and went into an alehouse this side the bridge being a Welshman and there called for some ale and saith that she is given to drinking and saith that she came into this City with purpose to enquire after her brother and spent 6d there in drink and saith that a woman who is called Katherine came into her company into the same house, and saith that she continued there drinking until 3 or 4 of the clock, and saith that she was not any higher into the town, but thought to return back again to her Country and going over the bridge this examinate was stayed but by whom or upon what occasion she knoweth [not]. And saith further that there was one David ap Jones and his wife and another young man whose name is Thomas together with the said Katherine and this examinate drinking in the said house and that they went all together out of the house towards the said bridge.
Examined saith that upon Saturday last she came to this City for to sell eggs about 12 of the clock and that she was divers other times in this City but doth not know any persons in this City and saith that she was not drinking in any house in this City that day but only spent a penny in herrings at a Welshman’s house whom she knoweth not.
