Sworn and examined saith that yesterday in the evening he being going from the City homewards at the Black Lion in Boughton found there John Thomason and another with him who were questioned for not paying toll there, and Richard Almond who demanded the toll together with Thomas Long and others did assault and strike the said John Thomason and the other man that was with him, whereupon he this examinate came in to their assistance and took their part and thereupon the said Thomas Long with a bill did strike this examinate on the head, and broke his head and drew blood.
He the said Richard Almond did strike at this examinate with a staff which he had in his hands and did also strike the said Robert Lightfoot several blows, and the said Robert Lightfoot’s head was broken; and one Thomas Huxley, John Barlow and Thomas Long all dwelling in Boughton did aid and abet the said Richard Almond in the assaulting and striking this examinate and the said Robert Lightfoot at the time and place aforesaid.
