Upon her oath saith that about a month since the said Mr Poole without any provocation that this deponent knows of struck this deponent and took the tongs out of her hands and said he would knock out her brains and in the time that this deponent breweth for the said Mrs Poole he the said John Poole doth abuse this deponent so that she this deponent dare not brew in the said brewhouse for fear of some harm to be done unto her by the said John Poole.
Upon her oath informeth that upon Thursday last in the evening about 5 or 6 of the clock in the evening Mr John Poole of the said City came to this deponent standing before her own door in the Row and said he had lost his tobacco rammer in the entry of this deponent’s house and commanded her to light a candle to look for it, whereto this examinate answered that if he desired her she would light a candle and look for it but she would not be commanded by him or words to that effect upon which the said John Poole fell into a great passion and swore and cursed and said he would plague her this examinate as long as she lived in that house calling her whore and giving her many other vile and abusive words and afterwards went into the brewhouse and broke this examinate’s combe and stamped upon the lid of it with his feet though he was desired to the contrary and at other times hath beaten and abused this deponent’s servants insomuch that Sarah Heyman this deponent’s brewer dares not brew for this deponent for fear of some harm to be done to her as she informs this deponent.
