She being the last night at John Horne's cellar in the Market Place about half an hour after nine, she saw there John Juxson, John Johnsons junior and Jeremy Barton, and whilst they were there there was some people in the Market Place calling Bene, Berney, upon which John Juxson got a large stick and swore by his maker he would go and rib them (meaning those that called Bene and Berney) as long and ribbing was good; and also at the same time John Jonhsons furnished himself with a stick for the same purpose; and also John Juxson pulled off his coat as she suppose in order to fight.
He being in the Market last night about 10 a clock he met with one John Juxson who without any provocation fell upon this informant and beat him with a great stick and knock't him down, and he this informant got up and said, John Juxson, what do you mean? And upon that he did strike this informant again upon the head and fell'd him and went his way.
Being in the Market last night he see Hugh Juxson and Thomas Youngs come walking together very civilly and said they were for Bere and Berney, upon which John Juxson and Jeremy Barton and one other person unknown to this informant with staves fell upon Hugh Juxson and Thomas Youngs and beat them, and Youngs got away and they continued still beating of Hugh Juxson in an unmerciful manner and one William Fox came by at the same time and without any provocation John Juxson struck at him with his stick and gave him a blow upon the arm and after that returned and beat Hugh Juxson again.
