John Dover who saith that he is gaoler to the Mayor of Castle Rising for the borough of Castle Rising, and that he taketh beer of Mary Smithe of King's Lynn widow a common beer brewer, and uttereth the same to the prisoners and others there in his house for money, but he saith that he is not licensed, and he further saith that he do no more therein than all other gaolers heretofore hath done, in the likewise in the said borough of Castle Rising.
And further John Reyner for himself saith that about Hollowmas last he was licensed by the now mayor of Castle Rising to keep a common alehouse in Rising aforesaid, for a year then to come, and he further saith that he had no knowledge given him of the meeting of the justices at Middleton, and he is now come with his wife and his family to dwell in King's Lynn, and further saith not.
