Thomas Hammond of Bury Constable informeth that upon the 6th day of this instant October going unto the house of Richard Battersby of Bury alehousekeeper to distrain upon his goods according to a warrant to him directed from a Justice of Peace within this county for suffering unseasonable tippling in his house in the night season the said Richard did make a violent rescue. And also that upon the 9th day of this instant going unto the house of John Allen of Bury within Redivals to distrain upon his goods according to a warrant to him directed from a Justice of Peace within this county for tippling at unseasonable time in the night season and being admonished thereof afterwards continued above an hour in which time he used scornful and reproachful terms towards some of our chief statesmen the said John Allen did make a violent rescue and in an uncivil manner cast out of his house calling for his men to assist him... That upon the 10th day of this instant going unto the house of Thomas Nuttall of Bury alehousekeeper to distrain upon his goods according to a warrant to him directed as aforesaid for suffering unseasonable tipping in the night season the said Thomas did make a violent rescue he together with his wife very uncivilly thrust the said Thomas Hammond out of their houses.
