Sayeth that upon a Friday about Martinmas fair last, there was one John Leister gent, a Cheshire man born, Thomas Hughson of Settle in Yorkshire, and John Chambers of Hawlton, did play at a game called the passage in the house of him this examinate for money, but denieth that either Richard Corlesse or Thomas Taylor of Waddington did game at the same time or any other time in his house.
Sayeth that at Martinmas fair last the persons aforesaid gamed in his house, and also sayeth that there was a disagreement before the aforesaid Taylor and Corlesse at the same time in a chamber of his where the aforesaid Hughson did lie who was his guest, in the night time at such time as he the said Cotes was in his bed.
Sayeth that the aforesaid Thomas Taylor did lie at his house at the time aforesaid but saith that neither he the said Taylor, Corlesse, Leister, Hughson nor Chambers did game in his house at any time.
