The said examinate deposeth and saith that on Sunday the 9th day of this instant December he went by virtue of a warrant to him directed under the hand and seal of the above named John Greenehalgh and demanded the sum of three shillings and four pence of Charles Nuttall of Nuttall in the said county gentleman for tippling and drinking in the house of Richard Nuttall of Holcombe in the said county alehousekeeper in the time of divine service and sermon on the sabbath day contrary to the Statute in that case provided, and that then he the said Charles Nuttall desired him this examinate to let him see and handle the said warrant which he this examinate did and the said Charles Nuttall did then forthwith pull the said warrant in pieces and put it in his pocket and said he would pay none but would answer what he had done, and that Richard Nuttall brother of the said Charles Nuttall was then present.
