Who upon his oath informeth that about the 22nd day of January last William Godsalfe of Newton in the said country husbandman came into the house of John Miller of Newton being an alehouse certain persons being playing at the cards for money which said William took money of the table from the gamesters which he neither staked nor laid down, but violently took the same away 12d whereof was the money of this informer and another part belonged to the Miller of Asholme mill and thereupon William Burrow this informer's brother desired the said Godsalfe to restore the money again which he refused to do and he the said Godsalfe and Rowland Godsalfe brother of the said William of Newton aforesaid, did both take a part against the said William Burrow, and the said William Godsalfe struck at the said William Burrow, and afterwards presently the said William Godsalfe and Rowland Godsalfe struck at this informer pulled him down and tore his clothes, and the said William Godsalfe threatened this informer that unless he would let him have that money [that] he had taken from him, and more too, he would stab him with his knife.
