William Gandy William Pickering Thomas Poole and Peter Worrall… that on or about Christmas Eve last these respondents being met together at the Inn called the Cock in the township of Budworth to make their presentments and accounts, Edward Massie parish clerk there came unto them and brought with him a presentation of him the said Massie unto the Clerkship, at great Budworth made by divers of the primary gentleman of the parish by which presentation it is desired that the same might be recorded in the register book there, whereupon these respondents sent the said Massie with two of the keys of the Chest wherein the register book is checked, unto Mr Knott curate there who had the thin key for the said Chest… and afterward the said Edward Massie brought the register book unto these respondents to the end that the said presentation might be therein recorded… that he did make the said presentation into the said register book without the privity of the Vicar or Curate as he believeth… William Gandy William Pickering and Peter Worrall responded that they did consent to the writing of the said presentation into the said register book and subscribed their names or marks thereunto or gave consent that their names should be thereunto subscribed.
