Nicholas Todd did entice and allure Elizabeth Turner from her mother's house (with whom she lived) to live and cohabit with him in his house and she lived with him in a public and shameful manner the space of two or three years; during which time Nicholas Todd did commit adultery or fornication or incontinence with her the said Elizabeth Turner and did beget her with child and to prevent her procreation, Todd did use some destructive means... for that one day about noon... Elizabeth Turner came to this deponent's house and asked to lay down upon her bed, and after she was laid she fell a-vomiting in such sort as this deponent did think she must have died; then that day sevenninght following Elizabeth Turner came again, and laid down as before and vomited in such sort as this deponent never saw the like, whereupon this deponent asked her what is the reason of this, then she answered that she was with child, and that Mr Todd did write a bill and sent it by Bartol. Kempe the Lynn carrier to one Mr Hullard an apothecary of Lynn, who sent her a powder which she took at those two times. And of the premises there hath laboured a public fame within the parish of Thornham and other parishes near adjoining. And further this deponent saith that Nicholas Todd seeing that this wicked means did not take effect, he went himself to Lynn for other things to one Mr Huggins another apothecary in Lynn, but could not have them home with him, but was purposed to send them by the carrier but the apothecary falling sick could not make them, so Elizabeth Turner and Todd prevailed with this deponent to go to Lynn, telling her that they would not suspect her but that she was a young midwife.
