You John Horrocks have for all the time aforesaid been much given to excessive drinking of ale wine and strong beer and company keeping and have lived and lodged and dieted at an alehouse of Elizabeth Hargreaves of Fentsgate in Pendle and have made several frays with several men and have oftentimes at least once strucken and beaten the said Elizabeth and one Henry Robinson son of John Robinson churchwarden of Newbury aforesaid because he would not pay a drinking shot for you in the said alehouse... That within the time aforesaid you the aforesaid John Horrocks finding John Robinson and Richard Kippay gentleman together in one alehouse in Little Marsden privately discoursing about their own serious affairs did uncivilly and publicly say that they had either of them a whore with them in the same room and you would break down the door upon them and these words you spoke in the presence of sundry witnesses to their great disgrace... That you the said John Horrocks within the time aforesaid marry or were present at the marriage of one of the daughters of the said Elizabeth Hargreaves and one Newcome of Leeds... in the house of Elizabeth Hargreaves.
