Upon the 30th day of August 1725 being in company with Edmund Barret at the sign of the Duke's head in Lynn, and taking occasion to mention the difference and trial that was to be at the Sessions between him and Susan Satchel his maidservant, told Barret he heard tell he had broke into the maid's bed chamber and asked him what time of night it was who replied at ten a clock, she asking him what his intentions were to go into her chamber at that unseasonable time at night, Barret replied, he went to call her up and what was it to him, this deponent, what he did with his maid.
A little before Christmas 1724, Edmund Barrett being a neighbour and shopkeeper asked this deponent if he could help him to a maidservant and this deponent recommending Susan Satchell arlate as a sober prudent young woman, Barrett desired him to send for her, and hired her accordingly, and she went to live with him about the beginning of Christmas 1724, and continued in his service for about a month, when she came to this deponent's house and complained to his wife of some rude treatment and behaviour she made met with from Barrett.
