About three years ago, this deponent happened to be in company with Randle Shaw, at the White Lion in Sandbach and as they sat together Randle espied out of the window Elizabeth Page in the street, and sent for her to come thither to him. She came to him and she stayed there with Randle and this deponent about an hour rather more. And when she was gone, Randle upon his own motion began to acquaint this deponent of his familiarity with Elizabeth and particularly bid this deponent to take notice that he got or was the father of a little child then in the town of about a year old, which was indeed called by the name of Page and was the daughter of Elizabeth Page. And further took occasion to say that Betty Page (meaning the said Elizabeth) should never want while he was worth a groat or to that effect.
