That two years [illegible] this deponent and Henry Symms were churchwardens of the parish of St Michaels of South Elmham where George Sedgford then dwelt, and saith in the time of their office they did present Sedgford for a common drunkard and swearer and [being?] negligent coming to his parish church wherein he was notoriously faulty… Francis Tayler is brother to James Tayler who is accounted to be an enemy to Spatchet, and so commonly reputed and accounted, and that Francis Tayler hath lived apart from his wife... and hath not received the holy communion at his parish church...
This deponent and Edward Chester were churchwardens of St Michaels in South Elmham about two years and somewhat more, in such time George Sedgford before notoriously faulty for common swearing and drunkenness, and for not receiving the holy communion they did present him for the said misdemeanours before the commissary and official of the Archdeaconry of Suffolk… Francis Tayler was and is brother to James Tayler & that Francis Tayler hath by all the time lived apart from his wife and hath not received the holy communion by all the time in his parish church.
