That this deponent was present upon Easter Monday last being the 30th March last when the plaintiff Christopher Saul being in the house of one Elizabeth Clarkson widow situated in Pilling did grant bargain and pass over unto the defendant Gawen Carter all his the said Gawen his obligations Easter duties and all manner of tithes and other ecclesiastical rights whatsoever belonging unto him the said Christopher Saul for and during all the whole time and term of years whatsoever… whereof the said Gawen Carter did covenant and agree to pay yearly at every Easter the sum of 6s 8d of lawful English money unto the said Christopher Saul and further saith that in confirmation and solicitation of the said agreement and bargain the said Gawen Carter did then and there pay unto the said Christopher Saul the sum of 21s vizt fourteen shillings four pence for all his obligations and tithes whatsoever then formerly due and 6s 8d for his tithes obligations and other ecclesiastical rights whatsoever for the year thence next following, which said sum of 21s the said Christopher Saul received from the defendant upon the terms and in manner predeposed… Saying his contests Peter Dickenson and Edward Braid and divers others were present at the premises and saith the said Christopher Saul did promise the defendant to make an agreement or any other writing unto him the defendant of and upon the premises whensoever he pleased.
