This deponent did hear it spoken of some of John White's neighbours whose names he now remembers not that John White was once so drunk or overcome with drink within this month last that he was not able to go home to his own house himself but was led or brought home.
About a year last past and in anno domini 1599 John White came into this deponent's house and he then was drunken as this deponent and others then there was present with him and saw him did judge and take him to be and there he fell asleep and his company that came in with him left him there sleeping and afterward John White's wife came to him and did fetch him home.
This deponent hath seen John White in the street coming to his own house within that two months last past when he was so overcome with drink that he staggered and reeled as he went, and the said John she saith was then commonly judged of those that saw him to be drunken, and John White hath been seen to be overcome with drink at other times, by divers of his neighbours.
John White hath often frequented inns and alehouses within the city of Norwich within the time articulate, and this deponent hath often times within the time articulate seen John White when he hath been drunken; and John White is commonly accounted and taken within the parishes articulate amongst persons of good credit to be a man often overtaken and overcome with drink.
About a quarter of a year last past and also about a fortnight last past this deponent did see John White to be drunken and so overcome with drink that he the said John White did go staggering and reeling this way and that way in the streets that he went and this deponent thinketh he could not go or guide his going better; and also White the last of the said times talked to this deponent, and by his speech this deponent did also perceive him to be overcome with drink for that he faltered in his speeches and railed on this deponent without just cause and spake then many unsensible words.
