That she about the beginning of the month of March last past was begotten with child by one Mr Edward Brock (who liveth in house with Mr William Brock) of Upton in the parish of St Mary within the City of Chester aforesaid: which said Edward Brock hath diverse and sundry times within the space of three years next before or about the month of March above specified, attempted the chastity of her the said Elizabeth and would watch and pursue her from place to place when she was going about her honest and lawful occasions. And indeed at the time when the said base child was begotten; he the said Edward Brock sent for this deponent Elizabeth Sarratt (who then was selling milk at the High Cross in Chester) unto Widow Plethin's house in Bridge Street in Chester and so soon as she came there he called her into a private room and... got her with child... And this deponent further saith, that as soon as she perceived she was with child, she acquainted the said Edward Brock, and desired him advise her what course to take, whereupon he answered, take the no care; but provide a place where thou must be harboured and entertained privately, and neither thou nor the child shall want anything, and within a few days after he the said Edward Brock sent for this deponent to go to the house of Widow Plethin aforesaid; and gave her there with his own hand £3 in silver.
