He this deponent have seen the said Chosell divers and sundry times at the articulate Keymer’s house in Aylsham who keepeth an alehouse and that [at the time] articulate he this deponent have heard the said Chosell vehemently suspected to have had incontinently or adulterously there with Henry Keymer’s wife… That he this deponent have seen the articulate Keymer’s wife two or three times about 6 or 7 o’clock in the evening come from the articulate Henry Chosell his chamber situated in the parish of Aylsham in winter time when he this deponent did take it to have been more meet or fit, for her to have been at home at her own house in company with her husband… this deponent being a parishioner there… and deposeth that there went a common voice and fame among the honest, grave, and credible persons, parishioners and inhabitants of Aylsham of… incontinent and adulterous life betwixt the said Chosell and Keymer’s wife.
He this deponent have divers and sundry times heard persons of good credit say that the articulate Chosell and Keymer’s wife have been greatly suspected to have lived in incontinent and adulterous life together in the parish… That in winter time last past was five years… otherwise he cannot specify the time the articulate Chosell requested this deponent to come to his chamber situated in the parish of Aylsham as to make merry or good cheer with him, and this deponent in an evening about 8 of the clock in the said winter time going thither he saw the articulate Keymer’s wife with the said Chosell in his chamber, where this deponent staying until about 8 of the clock the said evening and eating and drinking with them; went his way and left them together with her daughter who came for her to request her to go here but where this deponent cannot depose.
That the articulate Henry Chosell have lived incontinently or adulterously with the wife of Keymer… in the parish of Aysham… That about three years last past other he cannot speak the time in harvest time about 8 or 9 of the clock in the evening he this deponent happening to go to the said Chosell’s chamber to sup with him, the articulate Keymer’s wife came to the said Chosell his said chamber in Aylsham and there stayed and supped and after supper ended this deponent went away and left the said Chosell and Keymer’s wife together and as he remembreth one Robert Davie with them and when he or the said Keymer’s wife went from the said Chosell’s chamber or how long they stayed he cannot depose, he this deponent further saith and deposeth that… he this deponent dwelling within a furlong of the said Chosell’s chamber have seen the said Keymer’s wife many and very times as well in winter as in summer time in the evening go to and come from the said Chosell his chamber in the parish articulate when it had been more meet or fit for her to… have been at home at her own house in her husband’s company… that by reason of her the said Keymer’s wife so often and late resorted to the said Chosell his chamber there have been… a public voice and fame… in the same parish among grave and honest persons of good credit there that he the said Chosell have been suspected to have lives incontinently or adulterously with the said Keymer’s wife, to the offence of many.
