Saith she was born in Hawarden in the County of Flintshire… saith that upon Wednesday was month last this examinate going towards Warrington one Robert who since she hath heard is called Robert Kirke an apprentice with Mr Robert Fletcher the younger did overtake her riding towards Warrington and after some conference betwixt them the said Kirke wished he might bestow a French Crown upon her… and about a week after this examinate came from Warrington to Daresbury and at an alehouse there which is a Smith’s house she saw the said Kirke drinking there on horseback and when he saw this examinate he light of his horse and entreated her to go drink with him and thereupon they went together into the parlour of the same house, and bestowed some beer upon her and at that time had the use and knowledge of her body but saith he gave her no money at that time nor make promise her to bestow a hat upon her the next day.
Examined saith that he hath been acquainted with the former examinate about a month and within this time hath been in her company of several times, the one of those he overtook her by the way leading to Warrington, and at a Smith’s house… in Warrington in an alehouse there, and saith he had the knowledge of her body in the said Smith’s house in Daresbury and bestowed there 3d in beer and promised her a hat lined with velvet… saith that he gave her neither money or gold at that time or at any other time… but saith that they were together in a house here in Warrington the name thereof he knoweth not and drank a quart of wine together and she paid for it.
