The last Saturday being the 7th instant in the afternoon he was at Mr Crome's cellar in St Gregory parish drinking with one William Symonds of St Giles parish and others, where there was some discourse of King William by Symonds and the examinant replied that King William was the elective King but not the hereditary King. And he further saith he did say to Symonds that he did not question but once in a month time he should see a hundred such rogues as Symonds hanged for speaking against King James.

William Symonds and Robert Poynter were discoursing about the King, and Poynter did tell Symonds that King William was but an elective king and that the late King James would be here again with half a year.

The informant said to Poynter, God bless King William King of England, God of the first place saved us all, and King William in the next place saved all our lives. Poynter further replied and said that he had rather be under the power of the Devil than under the Presbyterian Government. And the informant further saith that there was some discourse between one Joseph Smith and Poynter (about the King) which he cannot say what it was and further he saith not.

And while he stayed he the said informant saith that the persons aforementioned did discourse of King William, William Symonds saying, God bless King William King of England. Upon which Robert Poynter replied and said that King William was none of the King of England but a deputy and fit for no better. And that he did not question but once in a month's time to see a hundred such rogues as the said informant was should be hanged for speaking against King James.
