John Carter
The last Thursday or Friday about eleven a clock that night, he being a watchman in the street by Magdalen Gates, there was Francis Ives very drunk and they asked him what he did up at that time of the night, he said he would go and see whether there was anybody drinking at Thredwell House or no. And he went but there being nobody he returned homeward. And said to the said deponent and the rest of the watch that if they would go along with him and give Alderman Drake a shout that he would give them a shilling.
