John Rooke
He do very well know Matthew Bird and John Crome... About a three weeks before Whitsuntide last he this deponent being at his dwelling house in Lowestoft did sell unto Matthew Bird and to John Crome of the city of Norwich then being there ten tuns and one hogshead of claret and white wine being in pipes and hogsheads. At which bargain making John Crome delivered to this deponent one angel for a God's penny in part of payment of such sums of money as they were agreed of. And thereupon John Crome presently set his own usual mark of the said pipes and hogsheads in the presence of this deponent and one Richard Chambers innkeeper... He this deponent was at the common staith in Norwich at such a time as the said wine came to the staith and did see part of that wine laid in a cellar near unto the said staith where Mr Barker of Norwich merchant have wine laying.
