John Grene who came lately from London doth say and confess that he and another man whose name he knoweth not met at Mawfrie's house yesternight about eight of the clock and sat drinking there till two in the morning and then went out and fell together by the ears in the Castle Dikes. And that they had there less than a full ale quart for a penny. And that one Edmund Brooke a tailor was then drinking with him but he stayed not above a quarter of an hour. John Gene hath paid 3s. to the use of the poor of the parish, and he promiseth to depart the city before Monday next.
