Three handled vessel manufactured from 'Cistercian' ware, a precursor of blackware. The globular body with flaring rim is typical of later Cistercian wares from Staffordshire.
The vessel was deposited in the moat of Eccleshall Castle following the latter's destruction after the English Civil War.
