Also at the same Assembly upon reading a report made and signed by Mr Mayor Mr Recorder Alderman Edward Partington and Treasurer Stringer pursuant to an order of the last Assembly upon the petition of Robert Crompton Esquire it is ordered that the petitioner may have liberty to erect and set up a Sign Post and Sign at the East Corner of the Shambles through the slated in the place where the corner port now stands there he first paying the Arrears of an ancient Rent of two shillings six pence and issuing out of a part of the Coach and Horses Inn called the office and obliging himself and his heirs to continue the payment of the said rent… and if he attempt to erect any such Sign Post before this order complied with the same to be taken down by the Treasurers.
