This may humbly certify your worships that we the subscribers hereof being inhabitants within the Chapelry of Downham having heretofore suffered great loss and damage, by the rude and disorderly carriage of Anne Hindle Daughter of Edward Hindle of Worston (now prisoner in the house of correction) at Preston aforesaid for her ill behaviour amongst us (where she had not legal settlement at all) but frequently coming in the night time, not only to disquiet all of us in our beds, but likewise to steal our geese, turkeys, ducks, chickens, and many other things of small value, but also by breaking our glass windows, and pulling the straw thatch from divers men's houses; which gives us great cause to fear she will fall into the same disorderly course again, if she should be set a liberty: Wherefore we humbly desire she may be continued where she is, till she shall find your Worships fit security for her good behaviour; and to make her settlement in Worston, where we humbly conceive she ought to reside, after your worships Shall think fit to release her.
