The humble petition of the inhabitants within the Forest of Pendle whose names are subscribed in behalf of themselves and the rest of the inhabitants of the said forest. Showeth, that Edmund Baron of Newchurch within the said forest alehousekeeper, and Mary his wife are persons of very ill behaviour, and do not keep good rule and government in their house, but on the contrary much disorder and misrule, and entertains persons of bad repute and credit at unseasonable hours and times, to the great prejudice trouble and terror of your petitioners and the rest of the said inhabitants… May it therefore please your worships to suppress the said Edmund Baron for brewing and keeping of ale and your petitioners will ever pray etc.
