Notes (1): | The lodge was granted a travelling warrant by the Ancients' hran Lodge to meet int the 68th Regiment of Light Infantry. In September 1819, the 68th Regiment was stationed at Quebec, Lower Canada. The United Grand Lodge of England sent a Quarterly Communication to the lodge there, but it was sent back to England by the officers of the 68th regiment who disapproved the lodge meeting |
Notes (2): | There is preserved in the Annual Returns in the Library and Museum of Freemasonry, London, a letter dated 21st August 1832, sent to the United Grand lodge from the Master of Durham Faithful Lodge, George Lyons, Sergeant Armourer in the 68th Regiment while stationed in Clare, Ireland. It is to inform the United Grand Lodge of England that the commanding officer of the Regiment had refused the lodge permission to meet at the risk of court martial, as he considered the lodge a 'party connexion' and general orders had been issued against members of the Orange Order. |
