Severall proceedings in Parliament, Number 2, 9th-16th October 1649 E.575[23]

therein to the House on Tuesday come fortnight.
Resolved, &c.
That every Member that now doth, or shall at any time
hereafter sit in this house, subscribe, his name to this Ingagement,
viz. I do declare and promise, that I will be true and faithfull
to the Commonwealth of England, as the same is now established
without a King or House of Lords. And that such subscriptions
shall begin tomorrow morning. And that every person
that shall be chosen to sit in Parliament shall subscribe the
same Ingagement before hee bee admitted to sit in the
House.
Friday 12. October, 1649.
ACcording to the Vote Yesterday, the Ingagement
was subscribed by Mr. Speaker, and all the Members
that sate in the House.
Ordered, &c.
That the Generall, and all the Officers and Souldiers of
the Army, and also such as are in Garrison, and all that be,
or shall be admitted into the Army, doe subscribe this Ingagement.
And that a Letter be sent to the Generall signed
by Mr, Speaker, with the Said Ingagement inclosed for that
purpose.
Ordered, &c.
That the like Letter and Order be sent to the Lieutenant
of Ireland to observe the same course in the Army and
Garrisons there.
Ordered, &c.
That the like Letter and Order bee sent to the Lords
Commissioners for the Great Seale of England, and to the
Chiefe Justices, and other the Justices of the severall Courts
at Westminster, that they subscribe the said Ingagement,
and that they cause the same to be subscribed by all the
Serjeants at Law, Counsellours, Officers, Ministers, and
Clerks belonging to the said severall Courts. And by all
Atturneys and Solicitors that p[unr] said Courts
respectively, before they be admitted to [unr] in any or
either of the said Courts.
