the State of the Case concerning the Election for the Town and County
of Poole,
The House Resolved, that the first Election made on the third day
of January last of Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper, and Samuel Bond Esq;
to serve as Members of this present Parliament for the Town and County
of Poole is a good Election, and that the second Election made upon
the same Writ on the 24 day of the same Month of January of another
person with Mr. Bond, to serve as a Member of this present Parliament
is void; and that the indenture where by they are retorned, be taken
off the File and withdrawn and that the Sheriff of the said Town
and County of Porle do retorn the first indenture whereby the said
Sir Anthony Ashley Coooper, and Mr Road are elected, to the Clerk of
the Commonwealth in Chancery, and that the said Clerk do receive
and file the same.
Upon further Report from the Committee for Elections and Priviledges,
concerning the Election for [unr]ete fi[unr], formerly Reported,
and then recommitted. The House Resolved,
That the Freeholders of the Borough of Petersfield, in the County
of Southampton have a right together with the Burgesses of the said
Borough in the Election of Burgesses to serve in Parliament for the said
Borough. The House further Resolved. That the Freeholders of the
said Borough of Petersfield had not due and timely notice of the said
Election and that there by the said Election, became, and is void.
Whereupon they Resolved,
That a new Writ be issued for the Election of two Burgesses to serve
in this present Parliament for the Burrough of Pet. rsfield in the County
of Southamptor, in the place of sir Henry Norton and Mr. Childe,
whose Elections are this day declared void. And Mr. speaker was ordered
to send his Warrant to the Clerk of the Commonwealth in
Chancery, to issue a new Writ for the said Election accordingly.
Upon a further Report from the Committee of Elections and Priviledges
of the State of the case concerning the Election of Burgesses
to serve in this present Parliament for the town and County Burrough
of Carmarthen The House
Resolved, That David Morgan Esq; is rightfully elected Burgess to
serve for the Town and County Burrough of Carmarthen; and ought
to sit in the House, and that the Indenture by which Rowland Dawkins,
Esq, is returned Burgess for the Town and County Burrough of Carmarthen
be taken off the File, and that the Sheriffs of the town and
County-Burrough of Carmarthen, do forth with return the Indenture
by which David Morgan Esq; is chosen to serve as Burgess in this
present Parliament for the said Town and County-Burrough into
the office of the Clerk of the Commonwealth in Chancery.
