Murad I, Ottoman Sultan

Murad or Murad Bey (Murad I), Ottoman Sultan (1360-1389); he died after the battle of Kosovo. The epithet 'Baquin' used here by Froissart recalls perhaps the Arab term 'Baqir', meaning wise and knowledgeable, an allusion perhaps to the penchant the sultan may have had for learning.
