entrerent en Auvergne. Adont s’assemblerent qui mieux mieux les
gentilzhommes d’Auvergne et de Limozin et aussi le conte de Forest qui mist suz bien IIIIC lances. Et firent leurs
amas ces seigneurs, contes, barons et chevaliers des paÿs dessus nomméz a Clermont, a Monferrant et a Rion en Auvergne.
Et quant tous furent assembléz, ilz se trouverent jusques a VIM
combatans, si esleurent ces barons et chevaliers IIII souverains de tout
leur ost. Premie rement le conte de Forés, le joenne conte Beraut daulfin
d’Auvergne, messire Jehan de Bouloingne et le seigneur de Montagu d’Auvergne. Et chevaucierent ces gens d’armes contre ces pilleurs de tous paÿs rassembléz desquelx messire Robert Canolle et Alle de Buef
estoient chiefs pour
defendre et garder leur paÿs. Car les dis
pilleurs avoient empriz de passer parmy Auvergne et venir veoir le pappe en Avignon et les cardinaux et avoir de leurs florins
aussi bien que l’Archeprestre en avoit eu.

guerroieurs qui se nom moient Englois. Et virent d’une montaigne ou
tout leur ost estoit arresté les fumieres que les ennemiz faisoient. A l’endemain ilz
s’adrescierent droit celle part en entention de les combatre. Ce soir vindrent a deux lieues pres dont se logierent ilz sur une montaigne et les Englois estoient sur une autre et veoient chascun des deux ostz les feux
l’un de l’autre. L’endemain se trairent les François plus avant car ilz
congnoissoient le paÿs. Et vindrent a heure de nonne logier sur une montaigne devant
les Englois. Et n’avoit entr’eulx que une praerie espoir large de VI bonniers de terre et pouoient clerement con gnoistre et veoir l’un l’autre. Et
quant les Englois virent venuz les François devant eulx
par semblant, ilz en firent grant chiere et s’ordonnerent tantost si comme pour combatre
et mistrent les archiers ou pendant de la montaigne devant eulx. Les seigneurs de France, qui apparceurent ce couvenant, s’ordon nerent aussi et firent

estoient deléz lui messire Robert Dauphin, son oncle, le sire de Montagu, le sire de Calen chon, le sire de Rochefort, le sire de Seri gnach, messire Godefroy de Bouloigne et pluseurs autres joennes escuiers
de Limozin, de Caoursin, d’Auvergne et
