John Burley (d. 1383) Sir John Burley (c. 1315 - 1383), older brother of Sir Simon Burley, chamberlain and courtier of Richard II. Nigel Saul notes that Sir John and Sir Simon appear to have made their way in service together, and mentions Sir John’s involvement with Michael de la Pole in the king’s marriage negotiations in 1379; see Saul, Richard II, p. 113; p. 84, 87. Sir John was invested in the Order of the Garter in 1377, and married Amicia Pembrugge.
