1 The presentation to this prebend in 1304 by the bishop of Coventry and Lichfield was by reason of the custory of the lands of Bartholomew de Brianzun: CalPat1301-07 311, and see VCHEssex8 59, 70. Other prebends of the collegiate church of Hastings, claimed as a royal free chapel, were in the king's patronage: see DentonWinch 291-3. The prebendary of West Thurrock presented to the vicarage as in 1323: RegBaldock 271.     
2 The church here comprised part of a prebend of the college of St Mary's Hastings (in the castle: TQ821095), claimed as a royal free chapel: see ChartChich 320-1 and CI.LE.DA.03, 14, 21-24 and CI.LE.HA.10. The prebendary possessed, in addition to this church, a portion in the church of Little Thurrock (see LO.ES.BA.01).
