THE King (as I told you in my
last) was several times brought
to the Bat of the High Court at
Justice; but refusing to plead
to his charge (excepting against
their Jurisdiction) the Court
thought good to spend some
time before they insisted further,
in perfecting the prboses
to make good the Charge; divers
witnesses (besides those
whose Examinations were formerly
taken) now coming la
where upon the King we [unr]
night from that which was Sir Rob. Cottons house to his owne [unr]
Jameses. This preface (besides the contents of many papers) which [unr]
have seen me thinks doth make way for the indulgent Reader, in
ask what the particular Charge against the King is, and to desire
the fight thereof, especially in regard is general in the name of the
