The man in the moon, Number 22, 12th-19th September 1649 E.574[9]

and Yong men of the City of London (one of Lilburns Sear crows)
was this day canvassed over by the Councel of State, and complained
of in their Rebellious House, who presently Voted it a
dangerous and wicked invective against their new Babel; and
yet Lilburn and Overton the Authors thereof, discharged from
their imprisonment in the Tower; but the Chief of the party that
these had seduced, are marked out for their slaughter-house, and to
be tryed by a Court Martial about the same Book the others writ;
A strange Riddle, that Lslburn should commit the fault, and other
be whipt! Sure lack would have a little more honesty, then
to Decoy in his Brethren, and sell them to be sacrificed to the
Ambition of their Enemies; 'tis hard trusting them: some jugling
is in it questionless, else whence should proceed these three
fatal Votes?
1 That their dread Oracle of State shal give direction to their Attourny
General touching those persons to be prosecuted on the Act of
high Treason, to do what they shall require therein, and resort for direction
to them, as he shall see cause: This is a new way of Justice,
but good enough for them.
2 That the said Councel of State shall appoint such other Councel as
they shall think fit, to prosecute against them: Must those that be
Parties be their Judges? here's Liberty indeed for the Free people:
if ever STAR - CHAMBER Tyranny were like this, the
Devil's a Hobby-horse.
3 That the Councel of State draw up a Declaration to undeceive
the People: To my knowledge the People are not Deceived a
whit; for where ever I come, they say, That the Juncto are a
company of Traytors and Tyrants &c. and the Councel of State, neither
better nor worse then Tyrants, Theeves, Murderers; and
if they know this, I'le besworn they are not Deceived a whit;
and therefore they may spare that labour.
Another Order was to make up Okeys Dragoons a thousand,
who are to be at the Dispose of the Councel of State; these shal
be to gather in the Juncto's Tyches, Seffements, and Taxes; but
first that Martial Yeest-Tab must accompany his Companion
Hogg Keepers, Pryde and Lambert to try the Mutiners at Oxford;
that it is to be hoped, they will now hang one another round,
because they sent to Norwich to fetch more Cattel to their
Shambles.
