Moderate Intelligencer:
Impartially communicating Martiall
Affairs to the KINGDOM of
ENGLAND.
From Wednesday, May 2. to Thursday, May 10. 1649.
Hatfield, May 6.
HEre bath passed the Regiment come out of Kent, called Sir
Miles Leuseys, now commanded by another, and going for
Ireland, they tooke speciall care not to march in a day farther
then they could see their Quarters the night before, or about
3 makes a day, taking as they go free Quarter, and so
discreet were the Officers that the Companies marched [unr]
day each after the other, and so the people upon or neer the
Road quartered 8 nights one after another, and some Gentlemen
them en of ordinary rank, 8 and 10 of a night, whether three
miles a day will be time enough for reliefe of Dublim and recovery of Ireland, we know
not.
Salisbury, May 7.
Here comes news that some of the horse in the West are still in discontent, and will
not endure that L. Col. Lilburn and those with him, remain in prison, nor that things
goe on as they doe, but will have the agreement of the people goe forward.
The Answers to some other of the 18 Queries put to those design'd for Ireland.
The last was, whether Laws might be imposed' It was answered, they were not upon
those not in rebellion, but might upon them, birds and beasts of prey, have no Law
allowed them, as was said of the Earl of Strafford, who had no such guilt upon him as
the Rebels have. The famous General that went with an Army into Scotland, and
had power of Marshall Law (a power given only in cafe of necessity, when time will
not permit the dilatorinesse of other) who was so tender, that when one of his Souldiers
