Mercurius MILITARIS
OR
Times only Truth-teller, Faithfully Undeceiving,
The expectations of the Vulgar, who are daily abused by a
Crew of brainlesse and brazen-faced News-scriblers (whether
Royali, Martiall, or Parliamentall) who have sold themselves
for a penny to doe Wickelly, relating the most
perfect transactions, both forraigne and domestick, collected with
much labour from divers particulars, and here presented in
one bundle to the Reader.
From Tuesday, May the 22. to Tuesday, May the 29. 1649.
Ye Sisters of the new Edition,
weep, Snivell, snt, and cackle,
For to behold your sad condition;
our twatling strings doe crackle,
Cawdles and Cock-broth quickly too,
the pretty Babes to cherish
O what shall we some bond-slaves doe.
when as the free-borne perish?
The rutting Rams began to tup,
with standard mounted boldly,
The simpring Ewes did boast them up,
but blam'd th y came off coldly;
W'hereby th'ave have lost both prick' and Praise,
the Brethren foundly bang,d too,
Whose notes are naught but well a dayes,
Jack L lburne must be bang'd too;
Indeed, in truth your losse is bad,
but oers warse, or else we lye;
What blessed dayes should we have bad,
I enjoy sweet Sisters freely.
A Foule House I promise you, what! the Commoners Calveskins
or the Saints Sheep-skins (take which you wil, pull over
their long eares, and themselves turn'd a grasing to the [unr] Isles.
Is this the birthnight of the free borne Bruts, who have expos'd
their lives unto all hazards for the common Cause, because
they would have all things Common, the ancient priviledge
