And the daily proceedings of the Army under his Excellency
the Lord Fairfax.

Beginning Munday July 23.
THe [unr]use spent the greatest part of the time this day,
upon the report from the Committee concerning
absent Members. And the Cases of many were them
debated, whereupon the house being satisfied at to
the absence of some, voted there read mi[unr]ce, in
particular these eleven viz. The Lord Herbert, Sir
Rich Lonsey, Sir Roger North, Sir Peter Temple Master
Stockdale, Mr. Harby, Mr. [unr] Major Brooke,
Mr. Baker, Mr. Piges, and Mr. Arthington, The Cases
of some either: were recommitted, and further
time given them to make application to the said
Committee. A Letter this day of a late date was read from the Governour of
Ireland; giving an account of his preparations and marches, in order to his Irish
expedition, which much depended upon a speedy supply, of a considerable sum of
moneys. The House voted, That it should be referred to the Councell of State, to
take speedy order for the sending 100000 l. down to his Lordship, and to consider
of the rest of the particulars in the said Letter. Col. Oconnelly was called into the
House, and gave a relation of the present good condition of Dublin, and likewise of
the great care, wisdom, and pollicy of Col. Jones in the securing of that City against
the enemy; be likewise related, the activenesse and gallantry of the Vice Admirall
of the Irish Seas, Sir George Ascne; and of his great care in relieving of that City
by sea. The house ordered 100 l. to be given to the said Col. and that Letters of
thanks should be sent to Col. Jones, and Sir George Ascue.
