A perfect diurnall of some passages, Number 312, 23rd-30th July 1649 E.532[2]

By a speciall expresse from Dublin Came thus. Tredagh being, etlded, The Lord
Moore made Governour, the enemy removed to sirtogthea Dundalk and Trym,
which cannot continut long, for we are not able to help them, our Souldiers are so
treacherous, and run away every day for want of pay; Five hundred, part of 700.
that went hence with Col. Monck are gone to the enemy, where they have every
Horse man 4[unr] s. and the Foot 12 s. 6 d. a picee, which money works more upon
needy men. then any cause or master w[unr]soever, though never so great. The
Lady Meredith, the Lady Weams, and Sir Thomas Armestrongs Family are turned cut
of Town, for that their husbands have desercius, and side with the enemy, by
which you may perceive how dangerous this place is beset with enemies without and
treachery within, so that it will be a miracle if God preserve us until the promised
supplies come, without watch we cannot hold long.
Col. Trevor is revolted, and with him Carlingford; newts is also for the Daemy,
so are the whole [unr]ister Scots. The Prince [unr] Wales is proclaimed King in Drogbedab.
Sir Tho: Armstrong with his Troop, is fallen from us, so is sir Patrick Wermse,
and Sir Tho: Meredith allo: The Scots save denyed the assistance by us desired of
them, pretending troubles at home: In all this (Sir) you have nothing but Treason
and Treachery, and a genera l defection now of Scots and Maliguants, as of
the Irish in the fi-ft Rebellion: You have our condition bri st, yet are we not in
all this any way dismayed, relying on the Lords goodnesse and providence over as
now, as ever hitherto.
Wednesday, July 25.
THe petition of the young 1. Capel was real, about some part of the Estate Seized
on as to matter of particular interest. The businesse was referred to the Committee
to whom the 40000 li. for Ireland was referred, to examine the state of the
businesse, and make report to the house.
A Petition was presented by divers Quentlemen, for Satisfaction out of the Marq
of Winchesters Estate, for damages done to them by him, referred it to a Committee
to examine the particulars.
The house was acquainted that a Letter was sent from the Ministers of Scotland
to the Ministers of London, but nothing was done in is a Copy was offered, but
not read.
The house ordered to heare no private business for eight daies.
An Act was brought in and committed, for encouragement of Gentleman about
new Plantations in the West Indies Isles, discovered by Cap. Smith for giving a
propriety to certain persons interressed, for Ruies and Descipline &c. subordinate
to England.
A Petition was read from divers Doctor of the Civil Lay, referred to the
Committee for probate of wils &c.
The house this day passed the list of officers for the Our-ports onely those Recommitted
are lest with blanks to be filled according to the Votes yesterday.
An Act was brought in for the Commissioners of the Customes to receive upon
account the monies due for Customs and Subsidies, And Ordered it to be ready to
be reported on the morrow.
Upon Report from the Committee of Goldsmith shall, ordered that the Tentnte
of sequestred estates [unr] use to return their Rents in their hands, till the first of
August next, shall continue their rents in their hands till sept. 1. except the Parliament
