to the House. This Committee accordingly fate this afternoon
in the Starr-Chamber, and made some progress in the
Affair committed to them.
It was resolved by the House, that in all Cases where there
are double Returns or more for one place, no person or persons
so returned, unless he or they be named in both or all the
Returns, do sit in the House, untill the House hath first determined
concerning the said Returns or Elections.
It was resolved, that this day sennight be set apart by this
House for a solemn day of Humiliation, and seeking God for
his special assistance and blessing upon the Endeavors of this
House. And that Doctor Reynolds, Doctor Owen, Mr. Manton,
and Mr. Calamie, be desired to assist in carrying on the work
of the day of Humiliation in Prayer and Preaching; and that
the Humiliation day be solemnized within the House.
It was resolved, that the Names or the Members elected
and returned to serve in this House be called over on Monday
morning next.
The House adjourned it self till Monday morning eight a
clock.
The Lords of the Other House have ordered likewise, to
observe Friday next a day of Fasting and Humiliation &c.
within their House, and have appointed Mr. Caryll, Mr.
Bockyer, and Mr. Hook, to assist in carrying on the work of the
day, by Prayer and Preaching.
Saturday, Jan. 29.
The Committee for Priviledges and Elections fate within
the House, and made some Progress in divers Cafes which
have been brought before them.
The Lords of the Other House likewise have adjourned till
Monday next.

his Highness, attended by his privy Council, and the
high officers of State and of his houshold, with the officers of
