The 23 instant, the Duke of Espernon returned
from his Government of Bourgongne; but for what
reason, is not known. Here is a common report
of a Treaty of marriage between Madamoiselle
of Orleans and the Duke of Savoy.
The 19 instant, here arived at Court a Courier,
with a Pacquet from the Duke of Guise to his Majesty,
giving advise, that he was entred into Calabria,
and become master of the Town and Citadel
of Reggio one of the principal and most considerable
Towns of that Province, and that the 3.
Brothers, Cardinals, of the name of Barberini, had
raised 6000 men who were within the Popes Dominions,
to favour the passage of 3000 horse that
the Count of Quinsay had from the Duke; & were
belonging to the French Forces under the Marshal
of Grancey in Piemont, but now designed to joyn
with the Forces which the Dukes of Parma and
Modena have raised for the service of France; after
which the said 6000 men are to joyn with the D:
of Guise, and then make way into the Kingdom of
Naples, where they expect assistance from 2000.
