I Cannot but acquaint you with the Transactions here;
On Saturday Last being market day, my Lord Protect.
or was proclaimed at the Market Cross; the Bayliffs and
his Brethren were in their Gownes all standing bare
while the Humble Petition and Advice of the Parliament
was read, and also the Proclamation, at the end whereof the
People cried, God save the Lord Protector, with such a Shout
and acclamation as I have not heard before upon any occasion
Then Captaine Johnsons company fired al at once a little from
the Cross; then, all the great Ordnance round the town the belles
