Mercurius politicus, Number 291, 3rd-10th January 1656 E.491[13]

The King of Poland is at Oppelen in Silesia, and
the Assembly there have manifested a very good
inclination for the re-establishing of the King of
Poland, but nothing is as yet resolved on. He intends
to set out a Manifesto, and send it throughout
all the Provinces of Poland, and the great Dukedom
of Lithuania, to endeavor a recalling of all
the people and the great Ones, to an obedience to
their lawfull Soveraign, and to promise them a
supply of Forces to make a puissant Effort against
the Swedish King, in which service the Moneys
will be employed that are lent by the Churches
and Clergy of Poland.

that the Lord Richard Cromwell, John Crew
Esq; the Lord Chief Justice Glyn, the Lord Chief
Justice St John, the Lord Chief Baron, the Lord
Commissioner Whitlock, the Lord Commissioner
Widdrington, William Pierrepont, William Ashurst,
Tho Grove, Esqus. Col. John Bright, Col William
Purefoy, Major William Packer, Mr Daniel Dike,
Col. John Bridges, Col Bridges of Worcestershire,
Mr George Griffith, Mr Peter Sterry, and Mr Nicholas
Lockier be added to the Committee to whom
the business touching the Collections for the Protestants
of Piedmont is referred; and the said Committee
